Kindle Fire

Hello,
I noticed on your main page that SC supports Kindle Fire, is there a tutorial for us to adapt our apps so they can be downloaded on kindle fire?
Thanks

Inquiring minds............

I guess it's still in the making, kinda strange though how they're showing it on their main page but it's not supported yet. Usually you would release it to the community first then have it listed on your site as a key feature.

I just notice this also. Lately apps that I've submitted to Android automatically go through a process to be approved for Kindle, per email from Android but they are never accepted per their next email.

What's the deal Seattle Clouds?

Hi All Fellow Clouders,

If u haven't yet noticed you can now duplicate your apps into Kindle apps :-)

To upload these apps and charge yourself you must have an Amazon App Developer Account. If you do not have your own account, SC will submit for you and your app will be free.

To become an Amazon App Developer go to:

I have been a developer for awhile just to submit my .apk (droid) apps to the Amazon App Store. Now we can design them specifically for the Kindle....WHOO HOO!!

Thanks SC :-))))

I assume some modules like puzzles and memory won't be available for kindle?

I am pretty sure what applies to Android applies to Kindle since it is an .apk file SC is building.

Thanks Kimberly as always you're on top of thing ;)

Thanks Kimberly. Have you published any apps for kindle yet? Is it going through successfully?

Hey Liza,

Still trying to get valid screen shots from SC. I do not have a Kindle so I am relying on them.

I will keep you posted :)

K

Just submitted my first one for review. But keep in mind, I have had many apps in the Amazon App Store, so I think they could have been used on the Kindle already.

Guess I need to get a Kindle soon, lol.

Kimberly, Seattle Clouds or anyone. Am I missing something?

I have a developer account with Amazon but I cannot find where to submit the kindle binaries. When submitting the option is Phone and/or Tablet. I read that all apps would be considered for the kindle but don't see where you actually submit the kindle screenshots and binaries.

I don't own a kindle or tablet but I didn't think they were considered the same.

Please advise and thanks in advance.

Isn't Kindle a tablet??
Hmmmm Idk. LOL

Well my app was approved under amazon and Denied for Kindle saying it wasn't compatible with screen dimension... Duhhhhh of course not. It was submitted as an Android app under the dimensions offered saying that it would be checked for kindle submission and I still have No idea of how to submit the "Kindle".

I sent a message to Amazon. Seattle Clouds can you offer some help here since you are offering the Kindle option? This is very confusing. Has anyone submitted and received approval for the kindle?

Please and thank you in advance.

I just received my response from Amazon to my question regarding my denial for Kindle.

Refresher:

*I submitted my Android app to Amazon, could not find how to submit specifically for Kindle
*All Android apps are submitted automatically for the Kindle per Amazon
*App approved for regular Android app but not denied for Kindle
*Sent e-mail to Amazon about the confusion, here's the latest:

"To Amazon: I am still confused about getting an app on the Kindle. You stated that "Your application will automatically be reviewed for Kindle Fire once you submit it through DevPortal", All my apps are being denied for Kindle stating that they are not compatible, specifically "does not appropriately utilize the Kindle Fire’s screen dimensions. To be compatible with Kindle Fire, apps must be optimized to run on a 7" screen with width: 600px and height: 1024px".

Your Portal does not offer the option to submit the dimensions for the kindle, the sceenshots that have to be submitted are 400x & 800x, not the dimensions specified for the kindle. Unless I am still missing something, I still don't see how/where I submit and make my apps be compatible for Kindle.

Please advise. Thank you again"

Seattle Clouds please feel free to jump in here also.

Thanks in Advance

Follow-up from Amazon: So are they saying we should submit the Kindle binary instead of the Android one? This is ridiculous, and they never answered about the image size.

"From Amazon: An app should have one single binary configured to support the largest number of devices possible. If the native version of your app requires features outside of those supported by Kindle Fire, we can work with you to evaluate on a case-by-case basis whether to make a device-specific binary available to Kindle Fire customers.

All application whether for Kindle Fire or other Android devices are uploaded via the DevPortal.  If you want your application for Kindle Fire only, please add that to your title."

Has ANYONE created and had a Kindle app approved via SC? Can you share something here please?

This particular thread has been going for a month with not a word from Seattle Clouds.
